Global Gardens California Olive Oil and Apple Ginger Balsamic Vinegar

One of the nice perks of running VegKitchen is getting delicious products that are kind to the earth to sample, right at my doorstep. It’s truly heartening to see that there are food artisans out there that are making products with integrity and craftsmanship, that create domestic jobs, and that do no harm to the land. One of those that I had the pleasure of meeting recently is the owner of Global Gardens, based in California.

extra virgin olive oilsOne of Global Gardens’ primary products is California-made olive oil. I got to sample the fruity Ascolano Extra-Virgin Olive Oil and it definitely rivals the best of what you’d taste from Italy and other mediterranean areas. The other product I sampled was the Green Apple Ginger Golden Balsamic Vinegar. I have never had such a mild, fruity vinegar — so mild that you can really pour it on, which is wonderful given how healthy vinegar is, especially when it’s apple-based. I used these to make the Gingermania Tofu recipe that Theo Stephan of Global Gardens contributed to VegKitchen from her book, Olive Oil and Vinegar for Life. [Note:while this book presents a lot of produce-based recipes, it's not veg/vegan]

Global Gardens also offers an array of hand-crafted condiments as well as snacks, gifts, and even an olive oil and gourmet food club. Explore the Global Gardens site, starting with the home page. It will make you hungry!
