ACV might be a bit of an acquired taste, but if you use it regularly and reap its benefits, you will eventually acquire it! Here are some easy recipes and ideas that will keep you motivated to enjoy your ACV drinks on a regular basis. Shown at top, for instance, is Juicy Pineapple-Cucumber Smoothie, for which we suggest you can switch up half of the lemon juice for ACV.

A few recipes for simple beverages

Here are a few ways to blend ACV into tasty beverages. Try a few and see which ones appeal to you most, as those are the ones that will keep you coming back for more!

Virgin Mary-Apple Cider Vinegar Mocktail
Serves: 1
If you truly don’t like the taste of ACV, this drink is one of the best ways to disguise it. Be aware, though, that most commercial tomato juices and bloody Mary mixes are loaded with sodium, so you won’t want to do this every day; just as a treat. Also note that some bloody Mary mix brands contain anchovies, so you’ll want to avoid those you follow a plant-based diet.

  • 1 1/2 cups tomato juice, spicy tomato juice, or bloody Mary mix (see note above)
  • 1 tablespoon raw, organic, & unfiltered ACV
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Freshly ground pepper, hot sauce, or other seasonings, optional
  • Ice, optional

Combine everything together in a glass and stir together.

Grapefruit-Apple Cider Vinegar Juice
Serves: 1
Grapefruit’s natural tartness blends beautifully with ACV. Optional — if you’d like this to be a fizzy drink, combine in a taller glass and add some seltzer or sparkling water. Very refreshing!

  • 1 1/2 cups grapefruit juice
  • 1 tablespoon raw, organic, & unfiltered ACV
  • Liquid sweetener or stevia to taste, optional
  • Seltzer or sparkling water, optional
  • Ice, optional

Combine everything together in a glass and stir together.

Cranberry Apple Cider Vinegar Cocktail
Serves: 1
Like grapefruit juice, pure cranberry juice (not cranberry juice cocktail, which is loaded with sugar) has a tartness that’s analogous to ACV’s own. Add your own sweetener to control the sugar content. Stevia adds no sugars or calories, but even a spoonful of maple syrup could do the trick without adding a lot of calories.

  • 1 1/4 cups water or seltzer
  • 1 tablespoon raw, organic, & unfiltered ACV
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened pure cranberry juice (preferably organic)
  • Liquid sweetener or stevia to taste
  • Ice, optional

Combine everything together in a glass and stir together.

Pineapple-Apple Cider Vinegar Colada
Serves: 1
Slip some ACV into this refreshing Piña-Colada flavored beverage. It will blend in with and be mellowed out by coconut water, pineapple juice, and a hint of lime.

  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon raw, organic, & unfiltered ACV
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Liquid sweetener or stevia to taste
  • Ice, optional

Combine everything together in a glass and stir together.

Hot Apple Cider with Apple Cider Vinegar
Serves:1
Here’s hot apple cider with a kick. As you’d expect, the ACV blends well with the flavor of its cousin beverage. It’s very warming on a chilly fall or winter day.

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh apple cider (preferably organic)
  • 1 tablespoon raw, organic, & unfiltered ACV
  • Liquid sweetener or stevia to taste, optional
  • Pinch of cinnamon or cinnamon stick

Heat the cider in a small saucepan until it’s just coming to a slow boil. Remove from the heat and pour into a mug. Add the ACV and optional sweetener to taste. Add a pinch of cinnamon or serve with a cinnamon stick.

Add ACV to Your Homemade Tonics

Apple Cider beverage

Bracing Apple Cider Ginger Ale has lots of good things in it — ginger, apple cider vinegar, and lemon juice. This just might become your go-to tonic! You can drink it straight, without the seltzer, if you don’t want the fizz. And you can warm it gently (don’t boil) if you want to drink it hot.

 Ginger-lemon, rooibos, and turmeric tonic

The One Tonic combines several amazing ingredients in one bracing beverage. They include ginger, lemon, turmeric, rooibos tea, and of course, apple cider vinegar. If you like these flavors separately, you’ll love them together. Maple Ginger Switchel

Yuri Elkaim’s ACV-Ginger Switchel is easy to make — a delicious detox tonic your health can’t afford to miss out on. Not only can drinking switchel improve your digestion, reduce inflammation and clear up your skin, but this ACV tonic – and other apple cider drinks – is full of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and electrolytes that instantly invigorate your entire body.

Ginger and Lemon Tea recipe

Ginger-Lemon Tea is really an infusion of fresh ginger and lemon — nothing “tea” about it other than how healthful it is and how soothing it is to drink. There’s no reason why you can’t add a little ACV to this basic formula, though you may want to go a bit lighter here — 1 to 2 teaspoons per cup, not to overwhelm the flavors.

Add ACV to your green smoothies and homemade juices

Citrus Bang kale smoothie

A tablespoon or so of ACV added to Citrus Bang Smoothie, for example, will blend with the delicious flavors of orange and pineapple. You can do the same with Spinach and Apple Smoothie, and many of the others in our line-up of green smoothies.

One more: try switching up some of the lemon juice for ACV in Juicy Pineapple-Cucumber Smoothie, shown at top.

Ginger Rogers Ale

Do you make your own juice regularly? If so, then adding that tablespoon or so of ACV to your beverage can become a healthy habit that you and your body will love. As with other beverages suggested here, blending ACV into juices that already have some tart or citrusy flavors. Ginger Rogers Ale (which contains parsnips, beets, bell pepper, and an orange) is a good one to try. Another: try switching up some of the lemon juice for ACV in Refreshing Green Lemonade.

Readymade Bragg ACV beverages

If you don’t want to make your own apple cider vinegar drink recipes, Bragg makes delicious ACV beverages that come in 16-ounce bottles. They come in a variety of flavors, including Apple-Cinnamon, Lemonade, Concord Grape, and lots more. They’re priced at just under $3.00 per bottle, which is less economical than making your own beverages at home, but they’re convenient if you’re traveling or on the go. Explore the various flavors on Amazon and look for them at your natural foods grocery.
