    Cinnamon Baked Apple Chips

Published: Apr 1, 2014 · Updated: Mar 4, 2021 · This post may contain affiliate links.

Apple chips are one of my favorite healthy snacks. I love their crunchy, sweet, and luscious flavor. They take some time to bake at a low temperature, but are really easy to prepare. You can set your oven's timer and go do other things and return when it's time to flip the apples. You can even make a bigger batch and have them handy for snacking throughout the week. Recipe and photo contributed by Mariana Diez, from her blog Joyful Living.

    Serves: 4

    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon natural granulated sugar
    • 4 honeycrisp apples or other juicy, crisp apples

Preheat the oven to 225 degrees F.

Stir together the cinnamon and sugar to combine. Set aside.

Using a mandolin or sharp knife, cut each apple into thin slices. You can leave the peel on if you'd like

Line two sheet pans with parchment paper, and place the apple slices side by side on the parchment, in a single layer. Make sure not to overlap the apple slices or place them on top of each other. Sprinkle the apple slices with the cinnamon sugar.

Bake the apple slices for 1 hour, then remove them from the oven and flip them over. The apples will be floppy, but they will crisp up later. Return the apple slices to the oven for another hour, then turn the oven off. Let the apple chips cool completely in the oven; this is when they will crisp up.

Is there any reason why you could not use a dehydrator instead of the oven? The air circulates around the apples and would dry more evenly.
