    Arlene, most any dark chocolate chips (as opposed to milk chocolate) are vegan. In my view, preference goes to fair trade chocolate, as the people involved in producing it are more likely to have been treated and paid fairly. I’m not familiar with NZ markets, however. Maybe a reader from your area can weigh in.

    Yes very true. Here in Canada, I used to buy dark chocolate bars from Giddy Yoyo( http://www.giddyyoyo.com/ ). They have got a good variety of organic chocolate bars with high nutritious value. As you said, most of the dark chocolate chips are vegan and suitable for maintaining a healthy diet. The organic chocolates are ideal for weight loss too.
